You have to work hard to find someone you really want and really like – or, as one married male friend put it, “someone normal” (apparently normal men are in short supply). The search is a kind of journey, and along the way you tend to learn a few things about yourself, and about the society we live in. Everyone knows lots of fabulous single women in their 40s …but can’t think of any equally fabulous single men the same age.In the calculus of relationships, people figure out their own worth, and then effectively try to engage with someone of equivalent or better value. This works quite well for the procreation of the species. This is one of life’s big mysteries but sometimes I think the key is identifying the right places to look. When you’re over 40, you’re usually pretty comfortable in your own skin You know what you like, and what you don’t.
We all have fulfilling careers, lots of good friends and interesting lives.
Popular TBS sitcom Cougar Town focused on the concept of older, divorcees dating younger men after ending their marriages, with former Friends actress Courtney Cox starring as a forty-something woman who enjoys a series of relationships with younger men following her break-up.
In addition to showing the increasing number of young men who are on the look-out for older women, Elite Singles' research also indicated that the average 'ideal' age gap for most men over the age of 30 is also becoming smaller.
According to the study, the average man above the age of 30 wants to find a woman who is just 11 years younger than him - a gap which Elite Singles believes is far smaller than many men would have opted for a few years ago.
While statistics can, theoretically, be used to prove/disprove anything, smart people can usually see through the lies to focus on the numbers.
